With small improvements and minor tweaks over the years, this new logo change is considered to be the biggest one till now. This new logo and icon change are rolling out across desktop and mobile starting today, before arriving on other apps and services, the company notes.
From the YouTube Creator blog, the new YouTube logo and icon is designed for the multi-screen world and gives a cleaned up version of the YouTube wordmark and Icon, creating a more flexible design that works better across a variety of devices, even on the tiniest screens. Say on a smartphone, the user can use the brightened up Icon as an abbreviated Logo, which will be seen more easily and read more clearly.
There are also new Library and Account tabs to make it easier to access the things you’re looking for, says Google.
Earlier this year, YouTube introduced a way to double tap on the left or right side of a video to rewind or fast forward 10 seconds. In the months ahead, the new mobile app will introduce another feature i.e. a way to jump between videos with a swipe of your hand. (This has been pre- announced)
The application also includes the ability to speed up and slow down the playback of a video, similar to the desktop experience; and the new video player will change its shape to match the user’s viewing format.
